PHP World is the top forum for learning and collaboration for PHP developers. It brings together the PHP communities of Drupal, WordPress, Joomla!, Magento, Laravel, Zend Framework, and Symfony.
Artemis Consulting developers have been creating small and large PHP applications since 2007. We started with Zend Framework in 2007 which we used on tons of web applications and projects, and still use it on a few large public-facing web applications. In 2011, we started writing applications in Zend Framework 2. In 2014 and 2015, Artemis had multiple senior PHP developers undertake a PHP framework bakeoff which we presented in our PHP Frameworks comparison series, where we compared and contrasted features of Zend Framework 2, Laravel, Phalcon, Symfony, Yii and more, and built actual web applications using each. We provided our recommendation of the “winner” of the bakeoff. At the time, our company and developers decided on Symfony 2 for building any new web applications which we have done since then. This year in 2016, Artemis developers started migrating to, and writing multiple new web applications in Symfony 3. Read about all our PHP framework blogs here.
On the PHP-based content management side, we have built internal and external web publishing sites using Drupal, WordPress and Joomla. We have designed, maintained and managed some large WordPress installations for multiple projects including one we built this year for a Federal client that needed us to ensure accessibility on both the user-facing and the content administration web applications. WordPress and Drupal continue to be our CMS platforms of choice. Learn more about accessibility with WordPress and how we can build an accessible megamenu in WordPress.
This year, we are doing something different at PHP World. We will talk about working on and supporting a large Federal web application written in PHP, and how this brings its own challenges and constraints but also its own rewards and satisfaction. We will provide “our take”, what makes us keep going, and what frustrates us at the developer and architect level. We will answer questions from the audience. Come see me and Jay Muntz present at 11:30 AM on November 17th 2016.
