Volunteering to Provide Power Packs to Feed Children in Need

volunteering

In keeping with one of Artemis Consulting’s core values of being socially responsible and engaging in activities that help benefit society, we helped provide free meals to children who do not have enough to eat over the weekend.  Over the course of a two-week period, our staff donated funds, their time, and effort to partake in this cause.

Specifically, for this fall service project, our employees made monetary donations to purchase food items and spent a day assembling the food packets for children in need. Food for Others is a non-profit organization whose mission is to distribute free food to those in need in our neighboring communities.  The non-profit’s Power Pack Program (P3) provides elementary school students with food on Fridays, so they have complete meals for the weekend.  These children tend to be on free-or-reduced-meals programs during the week at school and are at risk of hunger on weekends.

We more than doubled our original goal of raising $600 to create approximately 140 Power Packs.  Artemis CEO, Amee Shah, further explained “Our staff and company contributed over $1,500 to purchase food items and packed over 300 Power Packs for children in need.  This volunteer project, in particular, required a significant amount of effort, from purchasing all the food items to organizing and coordinating our staff to transporting the food to the warehouse.  I truly appreciate the collaborative effort and support of our employees that was required to make this activity a success.”

Artemis staff who participated in the packing the food found it rewarding and also expressed that they “enjoyed working together to contribute to a worthwhile charitable cause.”  Rohit Gupta, Artemis President and CTO, stated “This volunteer project not only contributed to an important need in our local community, but it gave our employees a chance to work together to do good.  It was a double-win for us in terms of providing a way for our employees to collaborate together for a good cause.”
